Urgent Care vs. Emergency Room: Where Should I Go?

At Immediate Health Associates, we want to educate our patients about their medical options. That’s why we strive to provide you with the most up-to-date information and methods for treating your urgent injuries and illnesses.

Emergency rooms are not the fastest or most cost effective choice when you need immediate health care, and often it takes days to get in to see a primary care physician or specialist. Urgent Care understands your needs, and offers a great alternative to ER visits. Our clinics are operated by top quality medical professionals, so our patients can be confident that they’re getting the highest level of care. IHA Urgent Care Centers will also save you money as ER costs on average are 3X more than our facilities!!

Urgent Care vs. Emergency Room: Symptoms to Look For

IHA Urgent Care Centers are same-day clinics that can handle a variety of medical problems that need to be treated right away, but are not considered true emergencies. Symptoms that can be evaluated and treated at our clinics include:
  • . Cough, Sore Throat, Sinus Congestion
  • . High Fever
  • . Wheezing or Asthma
  • . Vomiting or Diarrhea
  • . Ear Pain
  • . Painful Urination
  • . Sprains or Broken Bones
  • . Burns
  • . Lacerations (cuts)
  • . Eye Infection or Minor Eye Injuries
  • . Sexual Health Concerns
  • . Poison Ivy or Other Rash
  • . Minor Head Injuries

Emergency Rooms can handle trauma and other life threatening situations. Visit the ER for care when you experience any of the following:
  • . Heart Attack or Stroke
  • . Severe or Continuous Bleeding
  • . Chest Pain
  • . One-sided Weakness or Numbness
  • . Head Injury with Loss of Consciousness
  • . Severe Abdominal Pain
  • . Constant Vomiting

Our Urgent Care Centers are equipped to handle many of the same situations as an Emergency Room at a fraction of the cost! These services includes X-Rays and On-Site X-Ray interpretation, Sports Physicals, Laboratory Testing, Advanced Wound Repair (suturing, staples, adhesives), Casting/Splinting and Crutches.

If you have a true emergency call 911.
